Loose Leaf Tea

To brew loose leaf tea, start by heating water to the appropriate temperature for the specific type of tea you are using. Then, measure the desired amount of tea leaves and place them in a teapot or infuser. Pour the hot water over the leaves and let them steep for the recommended time. Finally, strain the brewed tea into a cup or teapot and enjoy.

Loose leaf tea offers several advantages over tea bags. Firstly, loose leaf tea tends to be of higher quality as it consists of whole or large leaf pieces, while tea bags often contain broken or fannings grade tea. This results in a more flavorful and aromatic cup of tea. Additionally, loose leaf tea allows for more control over the brewing process, allowing you to adjust the amount of tea and steeping time to your preference.

To maintain the freshness of loose leaf tea, store it in an airtight container. Keep the container away from direct sunlight, moisture, and strong odors. It is best to store tea in a cool, dark place, such as a pantry or cupboard. Avoid storing tea in the refrigerator, as moisture and odors can seep in.

Loose leaf tea generally retains more of its natural flavors, antioxidants, and essential oils compared to tea bags. This is because loose leaf tea leaves have more room to unfurl and release their compounds during brewing. As a result, loose leaf tea may offer a slightly higher concentration of health benefits, such as antioxidants and polyphenols, which are believed to have various positive effects on health.
